چکیده

The format of space data used in Geographic Information System (GIS) is different currently, therefore, exchange the GIS data among different GIS applications is not very convenient. In order to solve the problems, we take three methods. Firstly, the storage format of the shape document series (*shp, *shx and *dbf) is analyzed. Secondly, we study the technologies and methods of changing the shape document into XML file. Exchanging the format between the shape document and the XML file is realized. Thirdly, the methods of storing GIS spatial data as XML in DB2 9 are studied by using the extension function for XML in RDBMS, a data access middleware is designed and implemented to realize storing the GIS spatial data in DB2 9 as XML. Finally, the method of storing the GIS special data as an ordinary table in the RDBMS is introduced, managing the shape document in relational database is implemented and the correlated map display process is also studied, at the same time, the method to improve the speed of access the GIS spatial data is introduced. The study shows that the technologies and methods are of great significance to some GIS applications

Preliminary Site Selection of Pumped Storage Hydropower Plants - A GIS-based approach

The first stage in development and design of Pumped Storage Hydropower Plants (PSHP) is finding the optimum location. This paper presents a methodology for preliminary site selection of PSHP with the help of geospatial data analysis in a Geographic Information System (GIS) environment. The conventional method of PSHP site selection has certain limitations and is not cost and time effective. The...

Real-time GIS data model and sensor web service platform for environmental data management

BACKGROUND Effective environmental data management is meaningful for human health. In the past, environmental data management involved developing a specific environmental data management system, but this method often lacks real-time data retrieving and sharing/interoperating capability. With the development of information technology, a Geospatial Service Web method is proposed that can be emplo...
